And then the sky was blue

Ghost City! Somewhere along the Yangtze River... not sure where exactly, but its there!

This picture was taken at 7am while we were passing through the first gorge of the Yangtze River.

In the "Lesser lesser gorge" of the "Lesser gorge," an off-shoot of the Yangtze.

Finally got back from my "cruise" down the Yangtze river a few days ago. It was pretty amazing! Got to chat it up with other "foreigners" which was a nice change from not being able to understand a word spoken at the dinner table. I filled myself up on bread products... got to love buffets. (trust me, after not eating bread for a month it starts to sound pretty amazing). My friend and I met some pretty awesome people!

Outside of Stan's place. My my, look at that blue sky!
In Bei Hai, on the lake.

Yesterday it was pouring like crazy, thunder and lightning. BUT today it was beautiful out! The thunderstorm cleared away all the pollution. The sky was so blue and the sun so bright, never thought I'd see that in China. Stan and I spent the day at Bei Hai park. It was beautiful there. We rented a pedal boat and lazed around the lake, eating ice cream and talking.

After that, we walked our way to another lake in Beijing that has all the night life. We ate a feast for supper then I tried some candied fruit - basically fruit on a skewer covered in caramelized sugar. It was delicious! But why stop there? We sat on some comfy benches outside, ordered ourselves some shisha to smoke and some sweet popcorn to eat. Overall, I would say it was a pretty successful night.

Tomorrow we are going to the great wall again! I am so excited! Stan and I walked half of it already (well, half of the area we were in), we're going to do the second half tomorrow - yay for exercise! The Great Wall has been my favorite part of China so far and I can't wait to see the perspective from the other part of the wall. Then its Beijing Kaoya (otherwise known as Peking duck) for supper - so delicious, and its off to our first Olympic event. We are going to see diving at 8:00p.m. in the National Aquatics Center, a.k.a. the water cube.

It is way past my bedtime so I will say goodnight for the time being.
Goodnight!
